Where: La Verendrye Wilderness Reserve, Quebec, Canada
(Approximately 230 miles north of Ottawa, Ontario)
How Much: Estimated cost - $250 per person
Prerequisites: First Class Rank or above
Minimum age – 13 years (by January 1, 2009)
Must pass BSA swim test
Class III Physical
Demonstrated adequate Canoeing skills (adult leader discretion)
Must attend and actively participate in trip planning sessions
Border note: On June 1, 2009 all U.S. and Canadian citizens who are 16 and older traveling between the U.S. and Canada, will be required to present a valid passport or other alternative documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. U.S. and Canadian citizens who are 15 years old or younger will still be allowed to travel with just a copy of their birth certificate.
Reservation: To reserve a spot on this year’s canoe trip, must submit $50.00 non-refundable deposit before February 17. First come, first served.
Timetable: February 17 $50 deposit due
May 31 Trip plans finalized (route, menus, budget)
June 30 All prerequisites must be met (i.e. physical, swim test, etc.)
July 1 Final Payment due
